SMART/EDS is a proprietary data index (dictionary) developed over atwenty year period that contains information on over 18, manufacturers(eg., current names and addresses), over 3,500 generic noun descriptions(eg., oscilloscope, general purpose), over 210, model numbers ofgeneral purpose equipment items including prefix and suffix information(eg., H31-180AR) and the specification characteristic data published bythe manufacturer on over 10, models of equipment, including plug-inperfromance upgrades. Using this index data base as the model, datastandardization is enforced in the customers asset/property records.Through data standardization and online access to perfromancespecification data, functionally equivalent models of equipment may berapidly identified and located within the inhouse asset base forredeployment rather than acquiring new equipment items.
